TRAIN COMFORT MEASUREMENT SYSTEM - CONFI

CONFI - AMG's train comfort measurement system - is a system that evaluates the ride comfort onboard the train during the ride.
Its main device is a wooden made dummy equipped with various accelerometers and connected with a removable inertial platform fixed on the floor.
All the measurements follow the guidelines of the Standard UNI document ENV 12299 - Railway Applications - Ride Comfort for Passengers - Measurement and Evaluation.

The concept of the system is the following: during the ride the passenger is exposed to vibrations and accelerations on many interfaces (floor-feet; seat-hip; backrest-back): with its sensors, CONFI can measure these forces as if they were applied to a human body.
From the raw data of the accelerometers and the inertial platform, the system calculates many indexes that can be used to evaluate the ride comfort on the vehicle.

Confi has a double parallel working mode:

real-time graphical display of all raw data and indexes on a laptop connected with LAN cable
stand-alone recording on 4GB internal memory for later download and analysis on the PC

The system is equipped with GPS for localization of all the acquired and calculated data.

N_MV - Mean Comfort, standard method
N_VD, N_VA - Mean Comfort, complete method for standing and seated passengers
C_Cx, C_Cy, C_Cz - Continuous comfort on the thre axis
P_CT - Comfort on curve transition
P_DE - Comfort on discrete events
